Frosted Designs Fabulous Friday 10.26

Good morning all! This week our challenge at Frosted Designs is to use Paints, Mists or Inks on a card, layout or off the page project! How fun it that?! I LOVE using spray inks in everything from scrapbooking to mixed media projects.

In honor of this Halloween season, I created these little 8 x 8 canvases featuring these cute little trick or treaters! I used a lot of acrylic paints, spray inks, stencils, masks, and other bits and pieces of Halloween goodness that were lurking in my stash. This was such a fun project to do. I’ve been taking Christy Tomlinson’s Pumpkins and Cider Workshop, which is full of neat fall projects. She is so inspiring to me!!
Here are my canvases:

I call this one my Frankengirl πŸ™‚

And my Pumpkin Spice Girl πŸ™‚

I also created this cute haunted house scene that I featured on my Art Journaling blog, but figured I would share here as well. I think this may be my favorite thing I’ve created so far! I bought this plaster piece at Goodwill and revamped it into a scene for Halloween. I thought it looked kind of looked like a tombstone.

So have fun creating a project using paint and/or spray inks and be sure to link it up at Frosted Designs for the chance to win a super cute Halloween mini album kit from The Paper Trail!

Guest Designer!

Good morning everyone! I was invited by my very talented friend Ashley as Guest Designer for her monthly Sketch It Out challenge over at Club CK. Ashley creates some really fun sketches and I always enjoy her challenges with the twist every month. This was the sketch that she sent me to work with:

And this was my take on the sketch:

Supplies used: Patterned paper, stickers, alphas, journaling card-Echo Park; Ink: Ranger; Tag: The Paper Studio; twine-unknown; Washi Tape: SEI; Tape: 7 Gypsies; Pen: American Crafts

Here is Ashley’s layout:

As you can see, a sketch can be interpreted in completely different ways! Thanks for stopping by πŸ™‚

Scrapfit and Issue Challenge Layouts!

Good morning peeps! I have to say that I have been on a scrappy roll lately and I am loving it!! It’s funny how you can miss this hobby so much when you’re strapped for time. Now that I have finished some of my home decor projects and the kids activities have slowed down a bit, I’ve had a bit more time for scrapping and my new addiction…Zumba!!
My first layout is for ScrapFit’s workout #72, a color inspiration workout. We were challenged to use the colors coral, teal, and brown. I had a few sheets of My Mind’s Eye On The Bright Side papers left, and I thought they would work perfectly. Here is my layout:

Next up is my layout for this week’s Issue Challenge at Club CK. This week’s challenge has us using a slang word on our page. I had this sweet pic of Macie and her close friends after one of their basketball games. I thought “Homies” was a pretty appropriate title. Macie isn’t very girly, so I always try and tone down her layouts a bit. The muted colors I think work well with her personality. I also went a little outside my comfort zone by doing some stamping on this layout. I like stamping, but mostly confine it to my art journal or cards. I got the cute arrow and “hey girl” stamps from my friend AndreaJoy. Most of the papers used were from SEI from my Scarlet Lime kit. And in case you were wondering…yes, I hand cut every one of those hexagons πŸ™‚

I hope you all have a wonderful day!!!

Challenge Layouts :)

This has been a challenging week in more ways than one, but I was able to squeeze in a couple of layouts by working a little bit at a time. The first one is for the new sketch site Let’s Get Sketchy. I used my new Authentique Genuine paper pack to show off Weston and Opa hanging out at Chuck E. Cheese.

The next layout is for Erika’s Issue Challenge over at Club CK. The challenge was to scrap a special friendship. Sophie and Shelby have been best friends since they first met 2 years ago at Mother’s Day Out. I got a lot of the Dear Lizzy Neapolitan collection in my February Scarlet Lime kit so I used that on this layout.

The last page I did is for Ashley’s Sketch it Out Challenge at Club CK. We had to use her sketch, and as an added twist we had to use chevron, woodgrain, or hexagons. I used chevron and woodgrain. This page documents Weston’s first smile πŸ™‚

Thanks for looking and enjoy your weekend!! TGIF!!

blog hop winner and a few layouts to share

Thanks to everyone who stopped by my blog during the Valentine’s Day blog hop. I appreciate all of the awesome feedback that I received!! I picked up some new followers, and I hope those of you who have newly subscribed will enjoy my projects πŸ™‚

And now for the winner…..I had Miss Sophie (my 3 year old daughter) randomly draw a winner and she chose PHOTOCHIC!
Congratulations, please email me your info and I will send that Smashbook your way!!

And now for a few layouts…I’ve really enjoyed participating in the Workouts at ScrapFit lately. For this workout, the assignment was to use a cluster. I’m not so good at clustering and layering, it’s a challenge for me. For some reason I never feel like it looks right. Knowing this, I kept my cluster rather small πŸ™‚

I used one of my Scarlet Lime kits to put this together, along with a few bits from my stash. I had fun playing with the BeFunky app on my phone to adjust the color and blur the edges of the photo of Sophie running down the path next to the San Antonio River last weekend.

This next layout I did just for me. Not for any challenge or anything in particular. I just really loved this picture of my baby boy πŸ™‚

Have I mentioned how much fun I am having scrapping a boy after so many years of scrapping girls?!!

See you all tomorrow with my Frosted Designs Sketch Along Tuesdays DT project reveal. Oh, and don’t forget later this week Frosted Designs is also hosting the “Love is in the Air” blog hop with some awesome prizes to be given away!

A Few Challenge Layouts

Hi everyone! My scrappy mojo has been back lately, and I’ve had the time and inspiration to finally get to jump back into a few challenges. The first layout I did was for Erika’s Issue Challenges #2 and #3 for Jan/Feb. Challenge #2 was to use pink in a layout based on the CK article about using pink in different ways. I chose to use the theme of vintage floral and these cute pics of Sophie and Ashley during Christmas break:

Challenge #3 was to use stickers in your journaling. This layout is based on a sketch I had re-pinned on Pinterest. Unfortunately the original link back was not attached, so I’m not sure where exactly the sketch originated from. I also used this layout for the Weekend Workout at Scrapfit. Their challenge was to use stars on your layout.

This last layout is for the weekly challenge over at Club CK. This weeks it’s hosted by Heather, and her challenge for us was to use a small patterned paper pack or scraps on a layout. I had this 7 Gypsies Lille 8 x 8 paper pad hiding in my stash for several months now. So I chopped it up into banners. I was inspired by a layout by Lilith Eeckels that I re-pinned on Pinterest. I love how she used the row of banners at the top. I downloaded the Instagram app on my iPhone and used it to make the photo have a more vintage tone (my husband said it looked “70’s” 😦 ) I love the muted tones of this layout with the little pops of red. I have entered this also in the ScrapFit Weekend Workout #23 (use kraft cardstock as your background)

Thanks for stopping by and taking a look! And don’t forget, this coming Friday is the Frosted Designs Winter Wonderland blog hop. There will be some great inspiration and a few giveaways, so make sure you check it out!
